Neuwied dances for a world record: Bachata for a good cause!

On November 8th, Neuwied will be transformed into a dance stage when the world record attempt in Bachata choreography takes place. Organized by the ADTV dance school Marc Daumas, the goal is clear: at least 50 dance schools with 25 couples each should dance at the same time to the rousing music of the popular Dominican genre. It promises to be an unforgettable evening and everyone can be there. The live stream starts at 8:30 p.m. and viewers are welcome to the dance school to experience the colorful dances and cheer on the participants.

However, the fun has a serious background. The participation fees, which are at least 7.50 euros per person, go entirely to the NCL Foundation. This organization is committed to researching neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (NCL), a rare and incurable metabolic disease that affects around 700 children and adolescents in Germany. The foundation not only promotes medical research, but also supports the affected families.

Bachata – more than just a dance

Bachata, a musical genre that originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century, combines European, indigenous and African sounds. This vibrant music has evolved over the years. In the 1990s, instrumentation changed from traditional nylon guitar to electric guitars and modern instruments such as the güira. Translation and musical styles mix, giving rise to a variety of styles influenced by bands such as Aventura and Monchy y Alexandra. Bachata is therefore not just a dance, but also a cultural phenomenon that attracts attention far beyond the borders of the Dominican Republic and has achieved great international popularity through artists such as Juan Luis Guerra.

The typical dance movements of Bachata are simple but rhythmically demanding. To learn this fascinating dance style, it is important to master the basic steps based on the beat of the music. An evening for a good cause

What is particularly noteworthy is that Mayor Jan Einig and Fredi Winter will serve as jurors for the “Rekord Institute Germany”. This adds extra weight to the event and ensures that the record attempt is properly registered. Whether the record will actually be broken remains to be seen, as official confirmation could take a while.

The patron of the entire spectacle is professional dancer Melissa Ortiz-Gomez, who, with her expertise and application of Bachata dance, is an inspiring figure for all participants. The anticipation is enormous, and 30 couples have been training for months to prepare as best as possible for this special evening.

So if you don't have plans for November 8th, come along and let the energy and passion of Bachata take you. Enjoy the interplay of dance, music and the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to supporting sick children. With a “dance for a good cause” this evening will be a highlight in Neuwied!
