Drama on the highway: two accidents in heavy rain and aquaplaning!

On September 25, 2024, a spectacular traffic accident occurred on the BAB 3 at 7:00 p.m. on the BAB 3, between the Neustadt/Wied and Bad Honnef/Linz junction. A 67-year-old driver lost control of his Mercedes-Benz due to heavy rain and aquaplaning, came off the road and overturned. Fortunately, he was able to free himself from the vehicle independently, but was slightly injured and taken to the hospital.

Almost simultaneously there was another accident in the same place. A 34-year-old driver, also in a Mercedes-Benz, lost control of his car due to the adverse weather conditions, collided with the middle protection plank and remained badly damaged on the road. Both accidents led to considerable property damage in the upper five -digit range and caused short traffic disruptions and a temporary blocking of the road. Emergency services and the fire brigade were immediately deployed to supply the injured and recover the vehicles.
