Otterndorf high school student Paul Venohr is the best reader in the district!

Cuxhaven, Deutschland - On March 1, 2025, Paul Venohr from the Otterndorfer Gymnasium won the Cuxhaven North-East district decision. The eleven -year -old reader qualifies for the upcoming district decision, which will take place in Verden on March 22nd. Anyone who wins the district decision has the opportunity to take part in the state decision in May, and the best can even compete in Berlin in June.

The district decision competed against each other seven students from Hadeln and Cuxhaven. The readers presented their selection of texts in the Otterndorf City Library in front of a three -member jury consisting of Nana Kay, Anna Sengaken and Julian Bursky. Each participant had to present two texts: a passage from his favorite book and a foreign text. Paul Venohr decided on the adventure novel "in the sign of the magic ball" by Stefan Gemmel and also read from "seven days of storm -free" by Juma Kiebenstein.

The jury had difficulty determining a winner because the performance of the participants was very close together. However, Paul Venohr was particularly praised for his sovereign and expressive reading. As a highest reader, he has an extensive book collection that fills two large shelves. The reading competition has been organized by the Book Culture and Reading Promotion of the Börsenverein of the German Book Trade since 1959 and attracts around 600,000 students annually. His goal is to strengthen reading skills and promote enthusiasm for books.
