Success story: Ruz Hollen - A strong driving force in environmental education!
Delmenhorst, Deutschland - The Regional Environmental Education Center (RUZ) Hollen continued its success story in 2023. According to the commercial managing director Martin Brinkmann, the center is confronted with high occupancy by school classes, which attracts an average of 4 to 5 groups per day. Often the dates of the RUZ are fully booked one year in advance.
In the course of the year, the Ruz Hollen has also expanded various projects, initiatives and cooperation. A new international cooperation with the nature conservation association Sunce from Split, Croatia, was launched. In May 2023, a nine -member delegation from Split Hollen visited. At the end of October and early November 2023, the Ruz team traveled to Croatia for a week to support schools there so that they can become environmentally active through Sunce and to initiate sustainable developments.

Another goal is to implement an outdoor classroom, which is intended to serve as the center of extra-curricular activities. In addition, the BRDA primary school received suggestions from Korinna Freihof, the head of the Ruz branch in Huntlosen. The Ruz Hollen will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2024, underlining its role as an important player in environmental education.
In addition, the RUZ offers numerous programs for schools, kindergartens and groups that are geared towards interdisciplinary, experience and action-oriented learning. The RUZ has been part of the Alfred Toepfer Academy for Nature Conservation since 1992 and is one of over 50 recognized educational institutions for sustainable development in Lower Saxony. The RUZ receives support from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture from MEP teachers, further training and exchange of experiences.
