Experience Göttingen NEW: Digital discovery path opens exciting ways!

Göttingen has launched a new interactive offer to explore its sights. The digital discovery path leads users to a total of 21 historically relevant places in the city. This innovative approach enables visitors to explore the route independently with their smartphone and at the same time experience historical backgrounds and anecdotes. Well -known sights such as the old town hall, the Jacobikirche and the junkers are part of the offer, as are less well -known places such as the Hardenberger Hof and Quentin's corner.

The topics of the discovered path range from the Middle Ages to Jewish history to the botanical garden. Playful elements such as quiz questions, mini games and an internal lexicon to explain technical terms ensure a varied and educational experience. Navigation within the city is via Open Street Map, whereby the marketplace in front of the old town hall serves as the start and end point.

available for all users

The discoverer path was developed by Dr. Carolin Huppertz and Tanja Huppertz, who work on "Education for everyone" with the focus. The project was supported by the Litfin Foundation. Users can decide for themselves which part of the route they explore, and the offer can now be used free of charge, both for citizens and for guests of the city. The aim is to promote awareness of history, architecture and cultural diversity of Göttingen, as well as to ensure the accessibility of natural landscapes and cultural goods. Further information is on the website stadt-land-erleben.de/goettingen available.
