New care course in Göttingen: Future of nursing begins now!
Göttingen, Deutschland - The part-time bachelor's care course "Practice-oriented nursing science" at the medical faculty of the University of Göttingen is launched in the winter semester 2025/26. This course is unique and versatile in Lower Saxony to take into account the special requirements in the nursing sector.
students have the opportunity to choose between the focus of “intensive and anesthesia care” and “oncological care”. A combination of nursing science and specialized knowledge is offered. The course is specifically geared towards professional nurses who are approved both with and without a high school diploma. The goal is to expand the professional skills of the students and prepare them for the challenges in demanding care situations.
study structure and approval
The course includes a standard period of study of six semesters and enables flexible study times in the form of presence, online and self-study. The end of the course is the internationally recognized "Bachelor of Science". In order to be approved for studying, a result of a study test is required. The registration period for the aptitude test is from January 1 to March 31, 2025.
The approval requirement includes a nursing exam after three years of training. The course is also subject to an application restriction, which requires an application. The lessons are in German and includes content from the fields of social science, human science and health economics to expand interprofessional skills.
cooperation and professional perspectives
The course is offered in cooperation with the Göttingen health campus (UMG and HAWK). After graduating, graduates have a variety of professional perspectives, including the control of complex care situations, the implementation of research results, as well as the advice and guidance of patients.
In addition, there is the possibility to complete a specialist training and to achieve the conclusion as a "specialist for intensive and anesthesia care" or "specialist for oncological care", including an additional exam at the end of the fifth semester. The study structure is practice -oriented, with practical modules that cover relevant topics and include internships in the selected focus areas.
