Hannover 96 before a decisive power struggle: Who becomes managing director?

Hannover, Deutschland - Hannover 96 faces a critical period of time because the second division soccer team is under pressure to submit its license application for the coming season on time. The crucial application must be submitted to the German Football League (DFL) by March 17, whereby only one managing director is entitled to sign. The management of the association is currently controversial.

An internal dispute between the Mother Association Hannover 96 e.V. and the capital, represented by Hannover 96 Sales & Service GmbH & Co. KG, concerns the occupation of the managing director positions. The mother association calls for the immediate order from Henning Bindzus and Marcus Mann as the new managing director and complains that there is a "blockade" through the capital side. According to the NDR, however, the capital side has signaled the need for clarification and criticized the documents submitted by the mother association.

Current developments in the leadership dispute

The situation could soon relax, since according to Tagesschau a solution to the dispute over the position of managing directors is in prospect. Sports director Marcus Mann could probably be promoted, supported by the mother club. This would enable him to sign the license application until the deadline on March 17th. Martin Kind, the long -time club boss, was optimistic about a possible agreement and emphasized: "Marcus man is not negotiable."

The position of the managing director has been vacant for eight months and the power struggle between the mother club and shareholders of the professional football company endangers the future of the association. The sports director Mann is asked as a potential managing director to find a common solution. A court recently dismissed a lawsuit by the mother association for payment of 750,000 euros as unfounded, which underlines the internal conflict and the difficulties in leadership. While Hannover 96 is in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga, good leadership is now more important than ever.

The convening of a supervisory board meeting should enable a direct order from the managing directors. In the coming days it will be shown whether the association can take the necessary steps to secure the license for the next season.
