Leibniz Universität Hannover: Teaching Award 2024 for innovative teachers!
On May 7, 2025, the day of teaching took place at Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH), where the teaching prize for 2024 was awarded. Vice President Julia Gillen honored a total of six teachers who found recognition for their special achievements in teaching. Over 400 nominations were submitted for the award, which took place as part of a festive event in the atrium of the Welfenschloss.
The teaching price was awarded in three categories: motivation and inspiration, strategy and transfer as well as professionalization and apprenticeship. Each excellent person received prize money of 2,000 euros for financing further teaching measures. The selection board consisted of four students, two teachers, two employees from teaching -supporting areas as well as the President of the LUH as chairman and the Vice President of Education as an advisory member.

In the category "Motivation and Inspiration", four teachers were awarded:
- Hanifa Abdul Hassan, who received her doctorate in educational sciences and integrates the topic of "Unconscious Bias" in their courses.
-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Kabelac, which heads the Institute for Thermodynamics and promotes sustainable learning as well as current topics in teaching.
- PD Dr. Stefan Kalies, research assistant at the Institute for Quantum optics, which offers interdisciplinary lectures in biology, medicine and physics.
- Prof. Dr. Eike Schling, professor of structures, whose innovative and interactive teaching approach particularly stands out.
in the category "Strategy and Transfer" Rebekka Wandt, M.Sc. from the Institute for Design and Urban Development that combines academic teaching with practical use. Dr. Lena Heidemann, a research assistant at the Institute for Vocational Education and Adult Education, received the award in the category "Professionalization and Teaching Culture" for her significant impression of the Education Science.
This year the teaching price was awarded in a larger scale, which also included online formats. A keynote and various workshops carried out online on May 6th, which dealt with innovative teaching methods and the use of digital tools in teaching. The event was aimed not only at the LUH teachers, but also to students and teachers of partner universities.
