Night rest disturbed: bells ring in Braunschweig unwanted for Pope!
In Braunschweig, the bells of the St. Laurentius church heralded on Wednesday night to commemorate the late Pope Francis. Originally, the bell ring was scheduled for 12 noon, but due to a malfunction, there were unwanted night ringing. Provost Martin Tenge regretted the disorder of the residents' night's rest.
The exact duration of the nightly bell ringing is not known. In order to avoid future disorders, it was decided to dismiss the bell ringing at regular times and to check the systems. Temporarily, the bells should only ring the Sunday service by hand. The diocese of Hildesheim has also announced that the bells every day at 12 noon should ring for five minutes until Pope Francis's funeral. Bishop Heiner Wilmer asked the parishes for the so-called ringing of the dead, such as Welt reported.
