Bath heads are released due to briefing - scandal in Oldenburg!
Mayor Jürgen Krogmann released Jens Hackbart, the managing director of the Oldenburg bathing company. Hackbart's exemption came into force on January 23, 2025 and was based on public prosecutor's investigation due to the allegation of bribery.
On Friday, January 24, 2025, Krogmann informed the general meeting of the bathing company and the city council's administrative committee of the measures. The public prosecutor had obtained a search with the Verden District Court, which was carried out on January 22, 2025 by the police in Hackbart's business premises and in the Office for Finance and Controlling. Krogmann emphasized the support of the investigative authorities and the willingness to provide complete clarification of the allegations.
legal foundations of bribery
According to the legal provisions on bribery, officials who take advantage of themselves or third parties during the exercise of their duties can be punished with prison terms of six months to five years. In less severe cases, the sentence of up to three years can be imprisoned or fine, as shown in the relevant explanations on § 332 StGB. The law also provides that the attempt to commit bribery is also punishable.
The city is now examining further legal steps, while the previous representative of Hackbart, who is also an authorized representative of Bäderbetriebers-GmbH Oldenburg, takes over the tasks as operations manager.
