New basketball center in Oldenburg: The fight for indoor times begins!
In Oldenburg wurde am 4. April 2025 bekannt gegeben, dass die New Drei-Feld-Halle , the "Rickey Paulding Junior Center", will be opened on June 18. This hall is operated in cooperation between Baskets4Life and the EWE Baskets and is intended to make an important contribution to promoting basketball sports in the region.
The struggle for training times has already started, especially for the Gelb-Blau Baskets Oldenburg association. From the 2025/2026 season, yellow-blue Baskets will be cooperation partner of the Junior Baskets and plans to start with U14 and U12 teams in regular game.
training times and use of the hall
Total is available in the new hall 70 hours a week. 32.5 hours of this are reserved for school sports, while 37.5 hours of cooperating clubs are available. Another 10% of the time are planned for the self -use of Baskets4Life e.V. The hall is not only used in the morning by BBS 3 for school sports, but also in the afternoon by the cooperating clubs, including yellow-blue Baskets e.v.
yellow blue Baskets has applied to reserve 14% of the time of use, 70% after 8.30 p.m., in the new hall. Between 450 and 500 children and adolescents can benefit from the new hall times a day. The association also has the right to apply to the city at public indoor times and informs about the foundation of the association and the possibility of memberships in a cover letter.
The construction of the "Rickey Paulding Junior Centers" has already started. Baskets4Life e.V. bears 70% of the costs, while 30% are covered by a grant from the city of Oldenburg. Hermann Schüller, 2nd chairman and project manager of Baskets4Life e.V., emphasizes the importance of promoting young talent in popular sports. The hall is to be completed by late summer in 2025. A contract has already been concluded with the Goldbeck Nord GmbH general company.
In addition, the campus comprises a sports and business center and is part of the four-pillar strategy of the EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Baskets4Life e.V. The strategy aims to sustainably integrate professional basketball and to support young talent and social projects. Baskets4Life e.V. is already carrying out several social projects, including Baskita and the Cewe Grundschulliga, which aim to convey values and to promote the personal development of children and adolescents, as well as in the press release is mentioned.
