Evacuization chaos in Osnabrück: 15,400 residents have to flee!
On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Osnabrück faces a massive evacuation due to suspicion of bomb. Four suspicion points on unexploded goals in the Lokviertel mean that around 15,400 people have to leave their apartments and houses by 7 a.m. at the latest. If the evacuation is not complied with, fines between 300 and 5,000 euros can be imposed.
The evacuation area extends over a radius of 1000 meters, with the main train station, four nursing homes as well as the Marienhospital (MHO) and the Christian Children's Hospital (CKO) in the restricted area. The Schinkel comprehensive school (GSS) on Windthorststraße 79-83 is used as an evacuation center. The city of Osnabrück provides food and will organize support offers for the residents.
means of transport and emergency accommodation
From 6 a.m., buses from the affected districts will drive to the comprehensive school. The clinic locations, such as the Christian Children's Hospital and the Marienhospital, conclude from 7 a.m., whereby no relocations of patients are planned. The emergency rooms of both facilities remain closed during evacuation. In emergencies, the clinics in Osnabrück and the Franziskus Hospital-Harderberg can be reached, while pediatric emergencies are directed to the Münster University Hospital.
In addition, Osnabrück Central Station is closed from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., which leads to train cancellations and delays in long-distance and local transport. Regional transport also has changes, including the early setting of the RE 9 in Bohmte and the complete failure of the RE 62.
The suspicion of bombing was discovered during construction work on the site of the former freight station, and the city expects further suspected cases during the ongoing work. For more information, a citizen phone is available on Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 6th, from 6 a.m. on 0541 323-4490.
These measures are necessary to ensure the security of the residents during the bombing, which is a common precaution in Osnabrück.
