90 years of Lyhren fire brigade: A celebrated anniversary full of tradition!
Lyhren, Deutschland - The volunteer fire brigade in Lyhren celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2023. This anniversary was recognized by a festive event, which resulted in memories of the fire brigade's beginnings. In 1935, the municipalities of Soldorf, Kleinhegesdorf and Lyhren formed the first joint fire brigade. At the beginning, the equipment was a hand pressure syringe that had to be operated by eight men. Michael Pentecost, who was a local fire chief for 20 years, has now passed on his post. The first fire champion, Friedrich Kölling, remained in office until 1946
In 1948, the hand pressure syringe was replaced by a motorized syringe, which increased the participation in the voluntary service. The first plans for the construction of a tool shed were in 1949, which initially failed. Until the provision of his own house, a garage of the mayor Heinrich Riecher served as a shelter for the devices. In 1965, Wilhelm Pentecost made a place for the construction of a fire station, the foundation stone laid in 1966 and which was ready for occupancy six months later.
anniversary celebrations and developments
On August 22, 2001, a fire truck was deregistered that was no longer ready for use. During the waiting time for a new vehicle, the fire brigade used a pendant trailer and a tractor for competitions. On October 2, 2003, the Lyhren fire brigade finally received its first factory new emergency vehicle.
The fire brigade has had a friendship with the fire brigade in Remingen, Switzerland, after visiting Lyhren. In the future, the fire brigade is planning historical film evenings in the tool shed for the villagers. There is also a merger with the weirs from Soldorf and Groß Hegesdorf to establish a children's fire brigade in Lyhren. There are considerations for the fire service equipment house to convert it into a village community center, but there are no specific plans for this.
The volunteer fire brigade Kentzlin-Lindenberg celebrated its 90th anniversary at the Neu-Kentzlin sports field with an extensive festival program organized by Wehrführer Heiko Krecek and deputy Sebastian Schulz, supported by Mayor Reinhard Schumacher. The celebrations started with a parade by the community, in which weirs from Malchin, Demmin, Schönfeld, Sarow, Hohenbollentin, Pentz-Gnvezow, Gramtenin and the AMT Demminer Land took part.
The festival was enriched by the appearance of the Stralsund orchestra "Schützen Compagnie 1451" e.V. and Mayor Schumacher kept a speech in which he praised the commitment of the firefighters. The historical review of the 90 years of activity of the fire brigade highlighted the challenges after the fall of the wall with the staffing. At the end of the festival, the Altentreptower vocal duo Jo & Josephine performed and entertained the guests.
