Schaumburger U-13 teams defy challenges at the Avacon Cup!

Barsinghausen, Deutschland - The U-13-AVACON Cup took place on April 24th and 25th in the August-Wenzel Stadium in Barsinghausen. D-Junior base teams and U-13 teams of the youth performance centers (born 2012) took part in this tournament. During the tournament, five preliminary round groups were formed from which eight teams can qualify for the final tournament on June 2 and 3. The Avacon Cup is part of the DFB base program and aims to view talents for the U-14 Lower Saxony selection.

The Schaumburg team, who is looked after by vintage coach Lennart Meyer and his colleagues Steffen Mitschker and Nico Felix, had a difficult start. On the first day of the tournament, the team against Oldenburg clearly lost 1: 5, and there was also a narrow defeat against Braunschweig with 0: 1 (the goal fell through an own goal) and another defeat against Vechta with 2: 4. On the second day there was a defeat against Hanover-West 0: 8, but Schaumburg was able to fight for a tie against Hanover-Stadt (2-2). In the last game, the team defeated the NLZ of SV Meppen 1-0 and completed the tournament in the final table in front of Hanover-City.

The squad for the Avacon Cup 2025 consists of the players Anton Herzig, Leon Kaiser, Farhad Zibar, Massito Friedemann, Mikkel Blaume, Lennan Klemz, Nico Gutow, Ole Röntgen, Jan Koberstein, Artur Gordasch, Matteo Söffker and Noah Stockburger. Leo Oswald, Donylo Klymenko and Louis Schröder will be missing.
