Marko: From the U19 to the Wolfsburg professional - a Hungarian dream!
On March 18, 2025, Marko commented on his achievements in an interview with a Hungarian newspaper about the positive reaction of Zsolt Szoboszlai. He emphasized that he was proud to be compared to Dominik Szoboszlai, the best Hungarian player. Marko sees Dominik as a model and emphasizes that success depends on personal will and humility.
In the interview, Marko noted that he has received more attention since Szoboszlai's praise in Hungary. Despite the increased attention, this does not bother him. After the game against Hertha BSC, Dominik Szoboszlai Marko had contacted and informed him of motivating words. Wolfsburg became aware of Marko through an international match, which led to contacting his family.
Change to Wolfsburg and personal preferences
Marko was pleased with the interest of Wolfsburg and decided to make the change after visiting the VfL Academy. Although he also received offers from Hungary, he felt that moving abroad was necessary to develop further. He sees Bence Dardai, another Hungarian player, as an inspiring role model.
His goals initially include establishing themselves in the U19 team of Wolfsburg and becoming physically stronger. In addition to football, fishing is his second largest hobby, which he has been practicing with his father since he was fifth. Every year he takes a fishing trip with a friend in Hungary. His biggest catch weighed 12.96 kilograms.
In addition, Bence Dárdai was invited by Marco Rossi, the coach of the Hungarian national team, for the National League qualification against Türkiye. Dárdai, 19 years old and mainly active as a defensive midfielder, has double citizenship (Hungarian and German) and decided to play for Hungary. Rossi plans to put together a wide selection of 26 players for the encounters against Türkiye, in view of the inconsistent player and the invitation of four goalkeepers, including Dénes Dibusz, who returns from an injury.
The convening of Attila Szalai was also confirmed, while Ádám Nagy was not taken into account in the squad due to a lack of game practice. Rossi looks at a competitive duel in Istanbul and is convinced that the upcoming thousandth participation of the national team will motivate the players.
