Three women revitalize the historic Gasthof Waldheim in Bohmstedt!

Bohmstedt, Deutschland - Three women from North Friesland have reopened the “Waldheim” inn in Bohmstedt. The operators Romy Arndt, Bente Jensen and Gesa Petersen do not bring any previous experience in gastronomy, but want to create a cultural meeting place. The idea for the lease of the inn came into being at the end of 2023 when they learned from each other.

The 125 -year -old inn, which was originally built as a accommodation for forest workers, was reopened in April 2024. The lease runs over five years. The previous tenants had given up at the end of 2023 due to lack of staff. The new operators mainly offer butter bread, coffee and cake. Warm dishes are only served on special days. Once a month there is also a “pub evening” with DJ until midnight. The inn offers space for around 60 guests indoors and an outdoor area, which is closed in winter. The Bohmstedt forest cooperative, owner of the inn, is pleased with the revival of the "Waldheim". The neighboring Bohmstedter Forst was voted the forest of the year in 2022.

The operators have already gained initial experience in the catering trade and mastered various challenges. Gesa Petersen also runs a organic farm and bakes in the inn while Bente works at a school for half a day.
