Security for cyclists: Hamm police focus on controls and education!
On September 26, the Hamm police carried out a large-scale commitment to the safety of cycling and e-scooter drivers. Supported by the riot police in Bochum, the focus of the use was on compliance with the road traffic regulations. A total of 34 violations of cyclists and e-scooter users were found during the check, including the use of smartphones while driving and driving contrary to the prescribed direction of travel and disregarding red traffic lights.
Among the violations found was a serious incident: an 18-year-old e-scooter driver from Hamm, who advised the officials on the phone, not only had to expect a fine, but also faces a criminal complaint because his e-scooter was registered as stolen. In addition, the emergency services reported 19 other violations, such as disregarding belt obligation and telephoning at the wheel. Officials informed passers -by and road users about security measures and tips on theft protection for two -wheelers.
