In the night of Friday, October 11, 2024, a 50-year-old driver of a small van tried to escape a traffic control at Düren. The reason for his escape quickly became clear: the van was full of stolen goods, including boxes with stolen laptops, which could be assigned to a series of burglary in a company on Willi-Bleicher-Strasse.

The Düren police wanted to stop the vehicle at 3:35 a.m. on federal road 56 in the industrial area "Im Großer Tal". When the driver noticed control, he started fleeing over the A4 motorway towards Cologne. At the Merzenich driveway, he left the highway, but soon stopped on Rosenstrasse, where he fled on foot with his 17-year-old passenger. Thanks to a fast police operation and a service dog, both could finally be caught.
