Since the beginning of this week, drivers in Offenburg have had to accept considerable restrictions. The main street between Stadtbuckel and Kinzigbrücke is being renovated, which leads to enormous traffic jams and long waiting times. The first construction phase provides for the complete blocking of the main street towards Freiburger Straße. The retail chain around Achim Kirsche, Managing Director of City Partner Offenburg, reports resentment about insufficient information on the detour routes. Dealers fear that the construction work could deter customers in the weeks before Christmas, since the traffic situation remains tense, especially in the final phase of the renovation work. Kirsche also criticizes the installation of flashes on alternative routes, which do not make the already tense situation easier.
