Warning strike on Tuesday: Railway and bus traffic in Ortenau paralyzed!

On Tuesday, November 7th, public transport in the Ortenaukreis is significantly impaired by warning strikes of the Verdi union. Commuters, pupils and parents have to adapt to massive failures in bus and rail traffic. The traffic routing of the companies in Lahr, Offenburg and Kehl and the S-Bahnen will be severely affected, with potential complete standards at some locations. Verdi union secretary Melanie Kühn expects restrictions from 4 a.m. and asks those affected for understanding the measures taken as part of a tariff conflict.

The union calls for a salary of 350 euros more per month and an inflation premium of 1300 euros, while employers only offer an increase of three percent from April 2025. The negotiations that have been in place since the end of September are to be continued on November 11th. During the strike period, a replacement transport of the passengers is not possible, which is why the SWEW advises to switch to other means of transport or to move the journey.
