Car sharing in Oldenburg: advantages, problems and personal experiences!
Oldenburg, Deutschland - The car sharing offer is on the brink in Oldenburg! The EWE subsidiary EWE Go pulls the ripcord and sets its electric scooters. Only one provider of four e-scooter operators remains. This makes Carsharing the last hope for the traffic transition in the region. The resistance is noticeable: Around a third of the participants of a survey consider to switch to an improved car sharing offer, while a clear majority remains skeptical. In theory, this could reduce the number of vehicles in Oldenburg from 90,000 to 60,000 - a huge step!
Nevertheless, reality is complex. Daniel Kaszanics, managing director and CDU state manager, praises the idea of car sharing, but demands better software solutions and cheaper offers for companies. The surrounding area remains a big problem: Sabine Westerholt has switched to car sharing, but now has to cope with only one vehicle in dog mills. Her conclusion: Use outside the city is a challenge. Bus node points could be a better solution for commuters. While the advantages for the city dwellers are clear, the feeling that the offer urgently needs to be improved in order to be really attractive. Details are available on www.nwzonline.de .
