In contrast, the number of unemployed people at the employment agency itself fell by 21 to 1,210.

Lars Hellmers, board member of custom work, connects the stagnating numbers with the holiday season, which usually means less movement on the labor market. "As usual in the holiday months, there is little movement," said Hellmers. This observation is also shared by Christiane Fern, the chairman of the management of the Osnabrück employment agency. She points out that the summer holidays only ended on August 3, and that there were therefore no significant declines in the unemployment figures.

However, the development provides cause, in particular the long -term unemployment and the demand for workers. In August, employers in the northern district reported only 60 new jobs, a decline of 29 compared to July and 97 less than in August of the previous year. Overall, the number of open spots decreases, which has a negative impact on the chances of the unemployed.

Data for training and their importance

In the field of training, there is an interesting statistics. In the Bersenbrück region, 477 applicants for training positions have registered since the beginning of the year - a slight decline compared to the previous year with 480.

At the same time, the number of reported training positions has dropped significantly: from 578 to 514, that is 64 less. Of these 514 apprenticeships, 110 are currently not occupied, which is a reduction by 48 compared to the previous year, but also emphasizes the need to create more training opportunities to meet the need for qualified forces.

The challenges in the training area are also reflected in the number of unversored applicants: In August there were 38 applicants regarding unavailed, that is 13 more than in August 2023.

Overall, the situation in the Nordkreis Osnabrück shows how fragile the labor market is and how much it depends on seasonal influences and the general economic situation. With the end of the summer holidays, many hope to revitalize the employment opportunities.
