in Malente, a location of the state vocational school in Holstein Switzerland, a unique course on milk analysis is offered, which is unique in Europe. The course, which was developed in 2024, aims to convey practical knowledge in milk analytics without dairy laboratory training without dairy laboratory training. The number of participants is limited to twelve people to ensure a high level of practical orientation and enable direct exchange with experts.
The basic laboratory course includes extensive practical exercises on chemical-physical and microbiological analysis. This includes the determination of the fat, protein and lactose content, the measurement of pH values and density, as well as the detection of germs and the identification of yeast and mold. Specialist lectures on proteins, fats, lactose and minerals, as well as hygiene controls and quality assurance in the dairy industry complete the varied program. An important part of the course is also an excursion to the Max Rubner Institute in Kiel, where the participants get insights into laboratory technology and modern analysis. The high practice orientation and the positive image of the milk are particularly valued by the speakers, and participants from all over Germany took part in this course.

In addition to further training in Malente, the teaching, testing and specialisting center for milk analysis in Triesdorf has been offering an apprenticeship as a laboratory master for dairy laboratory workers since 1990. This advanced training takes place in the form of a two -semester state technical school for agricultural economy with the field of dairy laboratory system. Here the prospective laboratory master learn, among other things, quality criteria for the sensory brand butter test. In a DLG sensor workshop, the students have the opportunity to assess various dairy products sensory. In addition, practical workshops provide an insight into the digital offsetting of process costs in quality assurance and quality management.
The training in Triesdorf also includes application training and management seminars to prepare the students for future specialist and management functions. In 2024, 14 laboratory champions were awarded for their achievements. The close link between theory and practice ensures a comprehensive qualification of the emerging specialists in the dairy industry.
