Spring in danger: pollen flood increases allergy sufferers!

Spring in danger: pollen flood increases allergy sufferers!

With the beginning of spring, allergy sufferers are once again faced with a high pollen pollution in Germany. According to the meteorologist Christina Endler from the German Weather Service (DWD), ash and birch pollen in the south and southwest of Germany are currently currently in high concentrations. This spread of pollen is favored by sunny and dry days, which reinforces the symptoms for those affected.

A mild winter has promoted plant growth so that the pollen season started at the usual time this year. Last year, however, the birch's pollen began about 14 days earlier than usual. The pollen of Hasel and Erle, which belong to the early bloomers, are currently hardly in the air, while at the end of April the grasses begin to bloom and thus trigger violent allergic reactions. Endler recommends allergy sufferers to make their surroundings low in pollen, for example by changing their clothes after taking it home and not having freshly washed laundry dry.

pollen flight calendar and allergy trigger

to support allergy sufferers who want to better identify their allergy triggers, a pollen flight calendar is available. According to the information on Allergiecheck.de , allergies can occur depending on the type of pollen every month of the year. In winter, the flowering period of the trees such as Hasel and Erle begins, which leads to a slight allergic stress from the end of November to the end of December. In January there is an increasing burden of hazel and alder pollen.

From February to spring, the pollen of early bloomers such as birch, beech, hornbeam, ash, poplar and pasture appear. The birch blossom begins around March, and during this time, allergic pollen suffers particularly strongly. The Gräser-Allergie period begins around mid-March, although the symptoms will be very pronounced in May from May. In midsummer, the pollen of grasses and other plants such as Wegerich and rye are increasingly in the air, while the pollen of pine, platane, linden and oak can be felt from May to August. In the months of September and October, pollen flight activities of grasses and various herbs such as ambrosia and mugwort can occur again.
