Shine and shadow: Kronleuchter in Eutin Castle unveiled!

In Eutin Castle, a special tour will take place on October 20, which is devoted to the glamorous legacy of the ducal chandeliers. In this unique event, curator Sophie Borges introduces the eleven impressive candlesticks, who adorned the Duke family for generations and were once a symbol of wealth and status. "An ordinary castle employee should have worked a whole life in order to be able to afford such a chandelier," explains Borges.

The tour with the title "Light and Leuchter - The Illumination of the Castle" not only illuminates the precious candlesticks, but also the topic of light in a time before electrical lighting. Visitors learn how little light the chandeliers actually donated and that other light sources, such as oil lamps, were widespread in the everyday life of the simple population. The tour is only offered on October 20 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., after which the candlesticks are planned for restoration work. In the future, the interesting topic will also be taken up in regular tours in order to preserve the special atmosphere of these light sculptures.
