Bread for the world: support in difficult times from Paderborn
Important support for development aid in uncertain times
In a press release published today, superintendent Volker Neuhoff expressed his thanks to the generous donors who are committed to bread for the world. "In times when austerity measures threaten development cooperation, we are dependent on the support of our donors," said Neuhoff. The importance of such donations becomes particularly clear because the financial means for aid projects are becoming increasingly scarce.
Financial situation at a glance
In 2022 bread received a total of 75.9 million euros in donations and collections for the world-a slight increase compared to 75.6 million euros in the previous year. These contributions are crucial for the survival of numerous projects in development cooperation that are active in almost 90 countries. In addition to these donations, funds from the church development service and third -party funds, including funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
global projects and their real influence
With the financial resources from the donations and public grants, bread for the world was able to support impressive 2905 projects worldwide last year. The focus was still on Africa, where 91 percent of expenses, i.e. 288 million euros, were invested in development projects. Only 9 percent of the funds accounted for advertising and administrative tasks, which is classified as very low by the German Central Institute for Social Questions (DZI). This shows the high proportion that the donations actually flow into development aid.
an aid organization with tradition
bread for the world was founded in 1959 and has been committed to combating hunger, poverty and social injustice since then. Due to the close cooperation with partner organizations, the aid organization makes an important contribution to improving living conditions in the affected regions.

The Evangelical Church Circle Paderborn, which includes 13 parishes, has an important role in supporting these global challenges with its 73,500 Evangelical Christians in the Höxter and Paderborn districts as well as in Lügde as part of the Evangelical Christ Church Community Emmer-Nethe. The community encourages everyone to actively participate in development aid in order to support people in need in this uncertain time.
Due to the continuous support and the commitment in the communities, not only a sign of hope is set, but also a strong foundation for future aid projects. At a time when the need for solidarity is increasing, the use of a community remains indispensable.
