"Green criticize 'Nature Park Plus' as disadvantageous"
In a current development, members of the Green District Group criticize the proposal of a "nature park plus" as a disadvantage for the region. The discussion sparked on the occasion of a request to the district administrator, which deals with the definition, the costs, the ownership of the affected areas, the schedule, the target groups and the economic benefits of this concept.compared to a national park that the Greens had favored, they see significant differences. While a national park would have been fully financed by the state of North Rhine -Westphalia, the citizens of the Paderborn district would only have to bear the costs for the planned "Nature Park Plus". Possible funding could only contribute to a limited extent to relief.
A central criticism of the Greens concerns the unclear ecological effect of the concept. In particular, the question of dealing with the agricultural areas in the current nature park gives room for concerns. In contrast to a national park, they fear possible restrictions on agriculture in the form of buffer zones.
In addition, Jörg Schlüter, deputy district administrator and member of the Green District Group, expressed skepticism about suggestions for the rewinding of forest areas. According to Schlüter, such measures should already be integrated into everyday nature conservation. He also expressed criticism in the lack of the district administrator in expert guided tours by the stranger, which were already organized by supporters of the national park.
The FDP in the state parliament in this context called for the search for a second national park. She argued that the citizens 'decisions in the Paderborn and Höxter districts were rejected, while a citizens' request in the Hochsauerlandkreis failed due to the necessary majority. However, the CDU, which formally approved the coalition agreement and a second national park, is prevented from implementing this project by its own state parliament members from the affected constituencies.
