Dispute over refugee accommodation: Bad Griesbach's mayor defends himself!

Bad Griesbach, Deutschland - The dispute over the accommodation of refugees Ukrainians in Bad Griesbach escalated! Mayor Jürgen Fundke has decided to refuse to register newly arrived Ukrainians and the reason given that he does not want to give the impression that the city is xenophobic. Nevertheless, Fundke feels "totally treated" because his city is already going beyond its capacities. With schools and kindergartens at the limit, he sees no way to support more refugees.

The Passau district office is outraged by the refusal and emphasizes that Bad Griesbach is legally obliged to register the refugees. If Fundke does not give in, legal consequences threaten that the district office could extend until it was taken over by the district office. The Situation continues to come to a head, while the district is trying to impose the challenges of refugee accommodation on other municipalities. According to Fundke, around 2,300 people from various nationalities live in his city under around 9,750 inhabitants, which only reinforces the amount of refugee Ukrainians.
