Review and secure: B12 crossing in Freyung starts soon!
In a significant transport infrastructure measure, the construction site will be visible on the B12 in Freyung-Ort from Monday, September 9th. This project, which is responsible for the Passau State Building Office, aims to significantly improve traffic safety and quality at an accident -prone junction. The conversion of the confluence of state road 2132 into the B12 into a junction is planned. This measure now takes on the first forms and the preparations are in full swing.
In the first phase, the municipal road at the well -known McDonald’s is expanded to create a construction site bypass. "With the conversion of the node into a roundabout on two levels, we ensure the greatest possible traffic safety on the busy confluence. The city of Freyung will benefit greatly," explains Christian Bernreiter, Bavaria's Minister of Transport. The bypass is intended to ensure that the traffic flows on the B12 remain as undisturbed as possible during the construction work.
The measure in detail
The work on the construction site bypass is the first of several planned construction phases. The expansion should take place in different sections in order to lead the existing traffic in the best possible way. If the traffic reaches the new bypass, the construction site can be released for the necessary road and engineering work on the B12. Sabine Süß, spokeswoman for the Passau State Building Office, is optimistic about the progress of the project: "The work begins next week and should be completed by May 2025."
In 2024, the actual conversion of the same level of confluence into a partial plan -free junction will be started. The lowering of the B12 and the construction of a roundabout above the continuous federal road is planned. This will be created on a second level and various connection ramps. In addition, a public field and forest path is laid under the B12 to further improve the development of the area.
Another aspect of the construction work will be the construction of a retaining wall south of the B12 and a slope protection north of the street. These measures are crucial to do justice to the long -term traffic safety goals.
The entire project, which is to increase both traffic safety and modernize infrastructure, is expected to be completed by 2027. In view of the high load that these road connections experience every day, the upcoming redesign is a significant step in the right direction.
