Exchange program between Kepler-Gymnasium and Changhe High School: Strengthening German-Chinese relationships

On July 9, 2024, a special event took place at the Kepler Gymnasium in Pforzheim: a delegation from 25 students and 3 teachers from the Changhe High School from Hangzhou, the Chinese partner school of the high school, were warmly welcomed. The partnership between the two schools has existed since 2006 and has developed into a fixed institution. Visiting the Chinese guests is part of an intercultural exchange program that gives the students the opportunity to get to know new cultures and close friendships.

The city of Pforzheim showed its appreciation for the exchange by organizing a reception in the new town hall. Mayor Frank Fillbrunn emphasized the importance of relationships between the schools and praised the pupils for their contribution to strengthening friendship between Germany and China. During the reception, the Chinese students symbolically handed over a can of chrysanthemes tea to the social department and asked him questions about his everyday life as mayor.

After visiting the town hall, the Chinese guests explored the campus of the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences before continuing their trip through southern Germany. In addition to sights such as Neuschwanstein Castle, the cities of Munich, Heidelberg, Nuremberg and Bamberg are also on the travel schedule of the young people. In October 2024, a return visit to the Kepler Gymnasium in Hangzhou is planned to further deepen the intercultural relationship.

The exchange between the Kepler-Gymnasium and the High School Changhe offers the students a unique opportunity to grow beyond their own cultural horizons. Through direct contact with students from another country, you not only get to know a new language and culture, but also develop intercultural skills that you will accompany on your future life.
