Ornamenta sensation: 150 tickets a day, but Pforzheim remains skeptical!
The jewelry and cultural fair Ornamenta in Pforzheim takes a sobering balance: in 13 weeks only 5,891 regular tickets were sold, which corresponds to just around 150 visitors per opening day. Most tickets were cheap daily and location tickets, and a total of 12,000 visitors were counted, including free offers. Despite these disappointing numbers, however, the organizers can report that the event was not financially a minus business, with income and expenses that weighed up at almost four million euros, as managing director Christian Saalfrank reports.
The president of the Ornamentabound, Georg Leicht, was cautious: "We cannot be satisfied with the number of visitors." This also caused discussions in local politics, where Hans-Ulrich Rülke from the FDP raised the question of whether the financial support of the city of Pforzheim for the Ornamenta could be considered successfully. The new mayor Tobias Volle also questioned whether the current curators of the Ornamenta should continue to be responsible. However, a third edition of the ornamenta seems to be on the agenda to make the event and the brand established in the long term. You can find more information here .
