Dramatic explosion in Wittenberg: Canal lid flies with detonation!

in Wittenberg, a nightly incident caused excitement on January 29, 2025: At 03:59 a.m., a fireworks were ignited by unknown perpetrators by a canal lid on Berliner Strasse, between Puschkinstraße and the district court. The explosion was so violent that the cast iron lid flew out of its holder and landed on the road next to the opening.

The dirt trap under which the fireworks lay was badly damaged and pushed down into the shaft. Fortunately, the channel lid remained intact and was correctly placed on the shaft by the officials. The police have now initiated an investigation into road traffic due to the dangerous intervention.
