GPS tracker leads the police to the Diebesfund: over six stolen bicycles discovered!
A 21-year-old Essener reported the theft of her valuable pedelecs on the street "An St. Stephan" this morning. Thanks to a GPS tracker that was installed in the bike, the police were able to quickly find where the stolen bike was. The trail led to a basement on Burggrafenstraße, where the investigators not only secured the stolen pedelec, but also five other bikes.
around 7:15 a.m. the young woman noticed that her secured pedelec was no longer at the planned place. Due to the location function of the tracker, she quickly found her bike. The police reacted promptly and a strip team accompanied them to the site. The unexpected use revealed an entire smorgasbord of stolen bicycles in the basement of an apartment building. Now the police are investigating suspicion of particularly severe theft.
