Königsplatz: Emotional meetings after tragic homicide!

on Sunday, February 16, 2025, several meetings occurred at the Königsplatz, which were related to a homicide on Seidlstrasse. The first meeting (assembly 1) was trouble -free with around 70 participants from 11:20 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. At the same time, a second, larger assembly (assembly 2) with up to 600 people took place from 10:40 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. During this meeting, around 350 participants turned to the police blocks of the first meeting, which was assessed by the police as an independent assembly (assembly 3).

In Assembly 3, several violations of the meeting law were found, including a masking ban. There was resistance to the police and an attempted dangerous bodily harm. Eight people were temporarily arrested and displayed. Following assembly 1, participants wanted to put flowers down at the scene. Around 50 people then spontaneously formed a human chain for a provisional memorial location, which was registered with the police as assembly 4. This ended around 3:20 p.m. and led to traffic closures in the area. The flower laying of the first group took place in a different place nearby.
