Copper thieves beat: Church and pharmacy without a rain pipes!
Stiftherrenstraße, 52351 Düren, Deutschland - Unknown thieves struck between Sunday, January 30, 2025 and Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Church of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Stiftherrenstrasse and a pharmacy on the market square. The construction workers discovered the theft of the rainfall pipes at the church at around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning and immediately informed those responsible, who then alerted the police. On site, the officials found that copper pipes and part of the lightning rod were stolen.
But that's not all: Rainfall pipes were also missing from the pharmacy, which the police also took note of. To prevent future thefts, the police recommend various measures, such as soldering pipe elements and the exchange of ring screws for difficult to solve variants. In addition, lighting with motion detectors could deter potential thieves.
