A big excitement currently affects drivers in Germany: a red sticker on the windshield can lead to horrendous fines. This striking, round sticker, also known as the "red dot", is a sign that the vehicle is either no longer a roadworthy or not registered and has thus been parked on public transport areas. If you do not adhere to these rules, not only risks a fine, but also to towing and auction it or even the disappearance of your car, as FOCUS.de warns. Special caution is required, because the "red dot" is not only attached to cars, but also for trucks, motorcycles and even scrap bikes that are parked on public areas.

How does the procedure work?

The small but tollive sticker demands from the vehicle owner to remove his car within a certain period. If this does not happen, the car is towed by the police, and the owner is faced with several fees. These include a processing fee and costs for unauthorized parking, towing and storing the vehicle. Incidentally, the regulation does not apply to vehicles that are parked on private property. There you are safe from the hated "red dot" and don't have to worry about annoying fines.
