Schleswig-Holstein collects 14.4 million euros-racers in sight!

In 2024

Schleswig-Holstein recorded a significant increase in income from warning fees for overrun speeds. As the Mopo reported a total of 14.4 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 2.67 million euros compared to the previous year. This development is also reflected in the number of speed violations determined in 2024 to 540,594 cases - over 100,000 more than in 2023 with 434,731 violations.

The police are currently using various measures to punish speeding. In addition to the police controls, the municipalities can also carry out speed measurements. The aim is to make the volume of traffic more secure, especially at highly frequented places.

upcoming lightning controls

A speed camera marathon is planned in the coming week, in which 13 of the 16 federal states will take part. In Schleswig-Holstein, increased speed controls are announced from Monday to April 13th. The police use video vehicles as well as mobile and inpatient measuring systems to monitor compliance with the speed limits.

The controls focus primarily on endangered areas such as kindergartens, schools, hospitals, retirement homes, pedestrian crossings, bus stops and construction sites. These measures are necessary because increased speed often leads to serious traffic accidents.

The accident statistics

Statistical data from the Federal Office demonstrated the dangers in road traffic: in 2022, 2,780 people were killed in traffic accidents in Germany. Excessive speed is one of the central causes of these tragic statistics, which is why such preventive measures are essential. According to the Federal Statistical Office are the numbers alarming and one reason why traffic surveillance must be intensified.

With the upcoming measures and a responsible handling of road traffic, the authorities hope to increase security for all road users in the long term.
