Mouse buzzard survives Crash with van: luck in misfortune!
On Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. there was an extraordinary incident on the A24 between Pritzwalk and Meyenburg: a buzzard collided with a van. According to the falconer Angie Lölich from the “Wildlie in Need” reception center, the control center in Potsdam reached the emergency call at 5:23 p.m., and the Wittstock fire brigade hurried to help. The collision easily damaged the front area of the vehicle, but the big surprise came afterwards: the buzzard survived the accident almost intact!
"Wings and legs were fine, no breaks. He only had a minimal bleeding on the beak," continued Lölich. It is believed that the bird was sitting on the edge of the road and was hit when the van was climbed. A veterinary examination is now pending to ensure that there are no hidden injuries, such as on the lungs. If the mouse buzzard is actually healthy, it might soon be released into freedom.
