Gumtow: Barenthin and Vehlow are fighting for 10,000 euros for the future!

In the competition "Our village has a future", the districts of Barenthin and Vehlow from the municipality of Gumtow compete to win funding of up to 10,000 euros. Mayor Jörg Abraham reports on an increase in the population in Barenthin, which is now 283. A newly built playground, which was introduced by the community, is an important argument for the positive development of the village, which is exemplary supplied by a biogas plant with its own district heating network.

Although the community had major plans for complete energy independence, the power grid could not be adopted for financial reasons, which caused the dream to burst for the time being. Nevertheless, Barenthin is committed to strengthening community life through activities such as the fire brigade and the Carnevals Association, which is a fixture in the village. "Anyone who comes to the Barenthiner Carnival will come again and again," said Abraham enthusiastically. The entire events and the challenges of the villages can be found in a detailed report on www.nordkurier.de read.
