Agricultural package Disappointment - Farmers' Frustration in the Ravensburg district

new large demo in Ravensburg? Peasants express their disappointment

The farmers in the Ravensburg district are very disappointed according to the planned cuts in the Agrardiesel. The traffic light government has overflowed the barrel. Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir has submitted his agricultural package, which many farmers regarded as a missed opportunity.

The head of the district farmers' association Allgäu-Oberschwaben, Franz Schönberger, explains why the farmers are so disappointed. He emphasizes that the agricultural package does not bring the hoped-for breakthrough. Many control mechanisms are only omitted for farms with less than ten hectares when it comes to hobby farmers. Schönberger criticizes that the agricultural package only contains corrections to existing problems that have arisen in recent years.

A big topic is the eco -regulations in common agricultural policy that did not work due to their complexity. Although this was criticized two years ago, the changes made are minimal. Schönberger is disappointed with the missed opportunity to really help the farmers in the region.

The introduction of a court door balance that means enormous bureaucratic effort is particularly criticized. The farmers see no benefits in it, but only an additional burden. The demands for simpler regulations have failed at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and especially at the Federal Environment Ministry. The farmers emphasize that the EU has already reacted positively to its concerns while they are disappointed by the German government.

The mood among the farmers is currently very cloudy. Nevertheless, they emphasize that demonstrations are not their preferred form of protest. Most farmers are conservative and prefer a quiet dialogue instead of public demonstrations.

In view of the continuing disappointment of the farmers in the region, a new large demonstration in Ravensburg is not excluded. It remains to be seen whether the government will get involved in the concerns of farmers.
