Flight and hope: Art professor from Ukraine tells in Spiegelberg

Spiegelberg, Deutschland - In Ukraine, art professor Julia Matveyev once lived in a picturesque brick house that is now destroyed by grenades. The idyll that was once her home no longer exists. Now she lives in Spiegelberg and has created a moving short film about her dramatic escape from Ukraine. In this cinematic document she shows her artistic side by painting landscape pictures while memories of the Crimea pass.

The destruction of her former habitat has shaped Matveyev deeply, and her film is an urgent return into the past. Where she was once happy, there is now only ruins.
