Marathon heat in Remscheid: Mayor gives starting shot!
In the early Sunday morning, the Hackenberg sports hall in Remscheid filled up rapidly with runners who prepared themselves for the half marathon and Ultra on Hackenberger Straße. In the event of slight drizzle, which was waned, Mayor Burkhard Mast-Weisz emphasized that the conditions were now optimal for the run. The starting shot was given at 8:30 a.m., and among the participants was also a sports director Thomas Neuhaus, who granted humor, not trained much and to form the "broom car".
The competition required prior preparations, since large eviction actions were necessary in some places on the route. On Schwelmer Straße in Lennep, record -breaking 17 vehicles had to be towed, since the corresponding prohibition signs have been ignored for days. Sports manager Martin Sternkopf warned that the measures could be really expensive. While the participants started their competition, the costs and consequences of ignorance are already being discussed on the edge of the route. Further details are on www.rga.de to read.
