Referee crisis! Ittrich demands help from the DFB against flood of injuries
Top referee Pascal Ittrich, who currently fails due to a serious muscle injury, raises the alarm. In an interview with "Web.de", the 45-year-old demands determined measures from the German Football Association (DFB) to relieve the referees. "In contrast to the professionals, we do not train in the team and have to take care of physiotherapy," explains Ittrich, pointing out the increasing stress that both referee and player affects.
Currently, in addition to Ittrich, Deniz Aytekin, Robert Schröder and Frank Willenborg are also injured. These developments raise questions about fitness and stress control in the referee, especially among older referees. Ittrich emphasizes that the challenges through constant travel and physical effort cannot be ignored. Nevertheless, he notes that the current media hype for the injuries is exaggerated: "In the past, several referees in the past, but that was not communicated," criticizes Ittrich. Similar concerns are now being loud and show that the challenges in sport not only affect players, but also present the impartial tasks.
