Students in Bordesholm fight racism and discrimination!
The Hans Brüggemann School in Bordesholm organized a workshop day on the subject of discrimination and racism for the third time on March 8, 2025. The workshop day promotes awareness of these important social issues and provides for cooperation with external speakers. Marvin Nkansah was won over to carry out a workshop, a rapper and trainer in the area of anti -racism who encouraged the participants to actively act against discrimination.
nkansah emphasized the importance of mutual respect in society. As part of the workshop, the students shared their personal experiences with discrimination. A 13th grade student reported that she deliberately wrote her name wrong to avoid unpleasant misunderstandings with the pronunciation. Lucien, another student, expressed that he was often asked for his origin, even though he identifies himself as a German.

Another student, Joel, who has Jewish roots, told about anti -Semitic insults that he learned in the middle school. Joel has learned to deal with these insults and not be influenced by it. Rune, on the other hand, reported on her experiences with sexism because she bears a boy name and is often thought to be a man.
The discussion round also addressed the radicalization among young voters and the challenges associated with talking about political issues. Fiona reported on an examination of a family member who chose the AfD without dealing with the content of the election program. Many students found the current political situation to be oppressive and scary. Lucien pointed out in swastika smears at the school that illustrate the increasing problem of radicality in society. The pupils expressed the desire that the new government takes the current social problems seriously and strives for solutions.
In addition to the activities at the Hans Brüggemann School, the GEW is committed to various political educational work and cooperates with civil society organizations to fight against discrimination and racism. These initiatives are particularly focused on right -wing populism and the associated radicalization. The association "Don't turn on my buddy!" offers support and is one of the oldest anti -racist organizations in Germany, while the union symbol "The Yellow Hand" in Germany is used as a sign of resistance to racism and right -wing extremism.
