Bedburg-Kaster (red). A tragic traffic accident occurred on Friday evening, August 30th, in Kaster when an initially unknown man was fatally injured in a collision with a car. Despite the immediate treatment by rescue workers and an emergency doctor, his life could not be saved.

The accident occurred around 10:10 p.m. on Neusser Strasse, where a scooter was traveling with two men. Witnesses were previously reported on the driver's unsafe driving style, which indicates possible distractions or inattentiveness. Immediately before the collision with an oncoming car of a driver, the fateful misfortune occurred for reasons unclear. The passenger of the scooter, whose identity remained unclear, suffered extremely serious injuries and died a little later at the scene of the accident.

Investigations and blood tests

The alleged driver of the scooter, a 54-year-old man, was brought to the hospital seriously injured. As a result of suspicion of drug or alcohol influence, blood samples were taken from him to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. A blood sample was also ensured by the deceased passenger to check whether there was an influence of substances on the course of the accident.

To secure evidence, the police officers secured both the scooter and the mobile phones of the people involved. They were supported by a traffic accident team from the Düsseldorf police, which had arrived at the scene of the accident to thoroughly determine the facts.
