Volunteer days 2023: Clean monuments and stumbling blocks together

Frankenthal. The volunteer days in the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region are closer, and with you the opportunity for committed citizens to actively contribute to the beautification of your community. From Saturday, September 21st to Monday, September 30th, numerous projects are planned for which the focus is on participating in the community. This year, the event is particularly highlighted by expanding the large number of volunteer days. The event is not only an opportunity, but also a call to all citizens to do something for their surroundings.

cleaning actions and their meaning

One of the outstanding projects this year is the cleaning of monuments that not only serve to beautify, but also convey an important cultural and historical message. On Monday, September 23, the action for cleaning the sculpture "The Lying", which is in the Rudolf-Graubner facility, begins. Here, five volunteers are needed to return their original form affected with moss and lichen statue. This sculpture is part of the cultural heritage of Frankenthal and requires special care.

commitment to the memory of the city

Another important project will take place on Wednesday, September 25th, when the memorial of Johannes Mehring, an important beekeeping representative, is to be cleaned. Five to six helpers are in demand here. Mehring has set milestones in honey processing with his art honeycomb and is therefore closely linked to the history of Frankenthal. On Thursday, September 26th, a memorial stone will be cleaned as a memory of the canal port. Six to eight helpers are necessary to free the monument of contaminants. These memorials are not only physical objects, but also have history and identity.

stumbling blocks - remember and clean

In addition, the support association for Jewish commemoration on Saturday, September 21, will call up to clean the existing stumbling blocks. These stones are reminiscent of the fate of Jewish citizens and should be kept in a clear state in order to keep their meaning alive. All necessary cleaning agents are provided, and the campaign is aimed at all age groups, which further promotes inclusion and community engagement.

The commitment of the city administration

The city administration of Frankenthal also actively supports the volunteer days. The area of culture and sport contributes to the fact that every action makes sense and at the end of the day the volunteers can see what they have achieved. The central platform for registration and information about the projects is the website www.wir-schaffen-was.de, on which interested parties can register for the various actions.

meaning for the community

The volunteer day of the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region is more than just an event-it has been a significant step towards strengthening civic engagement in the region since its introduction in 2008. Under the motto "We create what", thousands of people come together every year to contribute their part to community and support each other. This year with the extended duration of ten volunteer days, the commitment of the citizens is impressively shown.

By participating in these projects, everyone has the opportunity not only to contribute to the beautification of their city, but also to create personal encounters and to actively contribute to the community. Information about the volunteer days can be requested by email to volunteer tag@m-r-n.com or online at www.wir-schaffenwas.de. Everyone is invited to become part of this important campaign and bring about a positive change.
