New Flexline starts in Edenkoben: Flexible traffic for the Gäu

New local public transport offers opportunities for the villages in the Gäu

The start of the VRN flexline

On Sunday, August 25th, a new era of public transport is opened in the "Gäu": the VRN flexline. This innovative Rufbus system will combine the villages in the Southern Weinstrasse district, especially the surroundings of Edenkoben, and create new mobility solutions for the region.

comprehensive offer for residents

The FlexLine covered a variety of stops, including EDENKABEN, Groß- und Kleinfischlingen, Altdorf, Böbingen, Freimersheim, Gommersheim, Venningen, Hochstadt and Edesheim. This enables users to make traffic flexible by being able to get on the bus at different points. This is a significant improvement, especially for residents of the smaller communities, since people are facilitated to get their goal quickly and easily.

The advantages for students and commuters

A particular advantage of the new Flexline is accessibility for many students who can drive free of charge thanks to existing time cards, such as the Germany ticket. This not only promotes the use of public transport, but also relieves families financially. With the expansion of local transport in this region, mobility for commuters is also ensured, which increases the quality of life and stimulates the use of public transport.

costs and financing

The introduction of the FlexLine causes additional costs of around 100,000 euros per year, which the district and the municipality of Edenkoben share. In addition, a one -time basic installation of 13,000 euros is provided on the part of the district. This shows the commitment of the municipalities to improve the living conditions of their citizens through a better connection.

additional information for the users

Important to consider is the restriction that the FlexLine cannot be ordered for the section between Edesheim and Edenkoben, since there is already a good train and bus offer. Instead, the FlexLine will head to Edesheimer Bahnhof to make it easier to switch to the train. In addition, the operation is carried out by a minibus from Palatinabus GmbH, which is equipped with a fold -out ramp to enable people with restricted mobility to be used.

Presentation of the flexline

For the official introduction of the FlexLine, the responsible district administrator Dietmar Seefeldt, Daniel Salm, Mayor of the municipality of Edenkoben, and Marcus Weigl, Managing Director of Palatinabus GmbH, invite you to a first trip in Edenkoben on August 25th. Interested citizens are invited to find out about the FlexLine in the “Im Letten” parking space from 3 p.m. and to get to know the new opportunities for local passenger traffic.
