Triathlete Thomas Fedinger: Disappointment at the Challenge Roth

The Challenge Roth, an important event for triathletes from all over the world, took place in Upper Franconia in early July and attracted over 3,500 participants. Despite the strong competition, Thomas Fedinger from the Tri Team FFB was among the athletes, who repeatedly inspired with his performance. This time, however, he had to accept a setback.

a long distance in focus

The Challenge Roth, known for their demanding distances of 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and a final marathon of 42.2 km, Triathleten offers an excellent platform to demonstrate their skills. Fedinger, who had already celebrated his long-distance debut at this event in 2015, set itself the goal this year to cope with the long distance in less than nine hours

inspiring atmosphere and personal goals

At the start of the swimming of the Main-Donau Canal, there was already a rousing mood in the early morning, which was reinforced by the support of over 300,000 spectators. Fedinger started the race promising and completed the swimming route in less than an hour. He also ended the bike route with a respectable time of 04:40:51. However, the actual sticking point was in the marathon.

The marathon: A hard fight

up to the 35th kilometer mark of the marathon, Fedinger was on the best way to achieve his personal goal. But the last kilometers proved to be extremely challenging. He completed the marathon with a time of 03:19:13, which led to a total term of 09:03:05 for the long distance. Despite a solid result, the disappointment about the failed goal of the SUB 9 was noticeable.

the look into the future

Fedinger plans to complete the triathlon season with another challenge. At the end of August he took part in the middle distance at the Ironman 70.3 in Zell am See, Austria. Here he has the opportunity to qualify for the 2025 World Cup. In view of his previous services, such as his excellent 5th place in the triathlon in Obernzenn, the chances are good that he can realize his dream of participating in the Ironman 70.3 World Cup in Marbella.
