Fight against controversial LNG terminal on Rügen: US video message alerts residents

"New video from the USA alerts environmentalists on Rügen"

A new video from the USA causes excitement on the island of Rügen. In it, the planned LNG terminal in Mukran is heavily criticized. Environmentalists think the million -dollar project is extremely questionable and try to mobilize the population against it.

The “Livable Rügen” citizens' initiative is decisively opposed to the LNG terminal in Mukran. In their opinion, most residents of the island reject the project. You can see the delivery of LNG liquid gas from the USA, which is obtained by the controversial fracking process. When fracking, chemicals are pressed into the earth with chemicals to promote deep -lying gas and oil. This represents a potential danger to the groundwater, which has already led to strict legal regulations in Germany.

Although fracking is prohibited in Germany, the natural gas obtained from the USA reaches the German market via the LNG terminal on Rügen. The US activist in the video urgently warns of the consequences of this import, which in her opinion already manifests itself in the USA in the form of environmental pollution and health problems. It appeals to the German government to listen to the voice of the community and not the interests of industry.

The “Livable Rügen” citizens' initiative is already planning joint events with representatives from the regions affected by Fracking in the USA. A first step is to be a vigil on May 26 at the intersection to the port in Mukran, to which all residents of the island are invited. In doing so, they want to continue to put pressure against the LNG terminal and draw attention to the possible consequences of the import of fracking gas.
