The joyful event went smoothly and quickly, as it is reported by the zoo website. The proud mother Gypsy chose a very special moment for the birth - the lunch break of her nurses. When they came to their enclosure, the little foal was already in the straw, lively and curious about its new surroundings.

After a night in the stable, the mother and child were able to build a deep bond with each other. Since then, visitors to the zoo have had the opportunity to observe the cute duo on their first steps and explorations. The little mare now gets to know the other members of the Guanako family and gradually discovers the entire facility.

The Guanakos are part of the camel family and come from South America. With their characteristic appearance and their lively manner, they are popular residents of the Saarbrücker Zoo and contribute to bringing visitors closer to the variety of wildlife.

The birth of the small guanako foal is a sign of life and reproduction within the zoo community. It reminds us of how precious and unique every new resident is and how important it is to protect and preserve these wonderful animals.
